Let’s plant 500 trees and create a forest of words!
It’s a very sad fact that only 13% of the UK has tree cover. Compare this to 31% in France and 36% in Spain!
Trees absorb carbon, reduce pollution, nurture wildlife and can fight flooding. Our last attempt at planting these trees was cancelled ironically due to flooding so we are crossing our fingers that we can go ahead this year.
In addition to a forest of trees, we will create a forest of words (using the Echoes app) so that visitors to the park using a special free app, can wander through the trees listening to the words of our volunteer tree planters and maybe the odd arboreal poem!
