An update from Oxford Swift City:

Meeting to launch the survey – Tuesday 25 April, 7pm, Town Hall
The City Council has kindly provided us with a meeting room free where we can launch our 2023 survey and discuss our plans for this year.  All welcome.

Now recruiting volunteers for Swift Survey 2023!
We are now recruiting survey volunteers to help us identify where swifts are nesting in Oxford so that we can help protect them and provide nest boxes for them.

We have checked in with all of last year’s surveyors to see if they are willing again this year and already added a few new volunteers who contacted us since last summer.  So far, we have 68 surveyors lined up but we need lots more!  There are 138 survey squares.

If you have not already signed up for a survey square and would like to try your hand at it, email us on OxfordSwiftCity@rspb.org.uk and let us know your postcode so we can find the closest available survey square to you. Training will be provided.

It’s easy to do!  Just two one-hour surveys per month in May, June and July and you’ll be contributing to this important piece of citizen science.

We have a training video here and more detailed documentation will be sent to surveyors in April before we kick off.
