CARING FOR OURSELVES, CARING FOR THE EARTH – DAY OF MINDFULNESS (Event from Oxford TNH Sangha) @ Oxford Quaker Meeting House
Nov 9 @ 9:15 am – 4:00 pm
CARING FOR OURSELVES, CARING FOR THE EARTH - DAY OF MINDFULNESS (Event from Oxford TNH Sangha) @ Oxford Quaker Meeting House | England | United Kingdom

This day of mindfulness offers an opportunity to come back to the present moment and acknowledge our feelings about our precious planet and the climate crisis. By learning to stop and take care of ourselves we can become more resilient and effective in our actions. We will enjoy deepening our experience of connection with Mother Earth through sitting, walking, and eating meditation. There will be a bring and share lunch, please bring a vegan/vegetarian contribution. If you have a special diet please bring food for yourself.

Chairs are available, please bring your own mat and cushion or mediation stool if you prefer to sit on the floor. Wear loose comfortable clothing and bring a blanket.

This teaching and practice is given in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh by experienced Dharma Teacher Vari McLuskie. We are inspired by the practice of Engaged Buddhism, which combines spirituality and social action, pioneered by Thich Nhat Hanh. “If we understand the Earth as a living, breathing organism, we can heal ourselves and heal the Earth as well” – Thich Nhat Hanh.

Getting there: The Friends Meeting House is 15 minutes walk from the Rail Station and 10 minutes from the Bus Station. The Oxford Quaker Meeting House is at 43 St Giles, OX1 3LW. It has a red door and ramp and is located near the Eagle & Child pub and opposite the Lamb & Flag pub. It is reachable by bus via the Oxford Bus company or Stagecoach. Please leave the car at home where possible or car pool with others. For parking the Park and Ride is the best option. There is metre parking on St. Giles, however it is in high demand and is expensive.

Accessibility: There are Disabled Parking bays on St. Giles close by. The Meeting House is situated within the large rear gardens and is wheelchair accessible from the main path. There are disabled toilets. There is a hearing loop, and we will be using a microphone and PA system. If you have specific access queries contact Jacqui Mansfield on office@oxfordquakers.org or phone 01865 557373 to discuss your requirements.
