St Frideswide's churchyard nature morning - come and help out @ St Frideswide's Church | England | United Kingdom

For anyone sad about the tree planting which is once again postponed, here’s a great way to support local wildlife in West Oxford this Saturday:

Come and help encourage nature in our little corner of West Oxford.

The churchyard is a little oasis of green next to the Botley Road, and already home to lots of wonderful wildlife. With some simple projects we can help increase biodiversity and do something small towards helping our planet.

Join us from 10.30am this coming Saturday (14th March) and bring any tools or gloves you have which might help, or just your willing self with a smile!

Projects include:

Sowing wild meadow seeds at the back to start converting grass to a wildflower area and review if suitable for beehives.

Small amount of tree planting (up to 9 saplings this time)

Cut back the invasive snowberry bushes to encourage native plants, insects and birds

Create insect hotels

Build up embankment to encourage nettles and brambles

Scout locations for kingfisher perches, bird boxes etc (and put them up if possible!)

And lots more!
