LCWO Climate Cafe: Climate Emergency - what next? @ West Oxford Community Centre | England | United Kingdom

The IPCC has given us 12 years to combat this climate catastrophe. And Oxford City Council has declared a Climate Emergency in a unanimous vote.

What does this all mean? What needs to happen next? What do we feel about it and perhaps most importantly, what can WE DO NOW both as individuals and to support Oxford City Council in taking action?

To launch our ‘5 things we can all start doing right now’ leaflet, and help us all make sense of the recent Council vote, we are holding our first Climate Cafe at WOCA, complete with vegan cake and great speakers.

Councillor Craig Simmons, incoming Lord Mayor of Oxford and Chief Technology and Metrics Officer at Oxford sustainability consultancy Anthesis, is half of the duo who proposed the motion for Oxford City Council to declare a climate emergency. He joins us to get us up to date on climate change and help us to understand what the motion means in practice.

Experienced facilitator and researcher Jo Hamilton will provide us with an opportunity to explore some of the thoughts and feelings which might have come up in response to the #ClimateEmergency, allowing us to move through to thinking about what we can actually DO.

Ask the questions you need answered, meet concerned others from your community, and… eat cake.
