A series of three consecutive workshops by LCWO and Oxfam, for individuals with an active interest in climate issues
What are the structural changes we need to make to the dominant economic, political and cultural belief systems to tackle the climate crisis? How does structural change compliment changes at an individual level? And how can we as citizens and/or environmental groups, contribute to this necessary systemic change?
Join us this winter as we pilot a series of three workshops to explore how we can maximise our leverage in the fight for climate justice, at an individual and group level.
Information:
Structure: 3 x 1.5 hour workshops, held on zoom.
Participation: This process is for a maximum of 18 participants, and participation requires attendance of all three 1.5 hour sessions.

- Workshop 1 – How change happens, and developing an influencing strategy
- Workshop 2 – Practice session
- Workshop 3 – Maximising individual leverage
Dates: Monday 23rd November at 7.30pm; Monday 14th December at 7.30pm. January date tbc.
Who is this for? Oxfordshire-based individuals active on climate justice issues; leaders or members of community associations, local organisations, networks; ACT Now participants.

Background:
Given the increasing urgency and closing window of opportunity to prevent climate breakdown, it is essential we think strategically about how to achieve the change we need to see. Lifestyle changes remain important, however alone are insufficient. We also need wider systemic change. Only by also changing the underlying structural causes – including our institutions, government policies and laws, infrastructures as well as our cultural and social norms- will we have the change at scale that is needed.
The purpose of these workshops is to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to enable them to influence systemic change, and to help them to understand how they can contribute to the change we need to see, as active citizens and as members of organisations and social movements.
LCWO has joined forces with Oxfam to share its experience and methodology of enabling systemic change with participants of LCWO’s ACT Now programme and other people in Oxfordshire with a view to maximise collective influence and impact in the pursuit of climate justice.
The session will be facilitated by Richard English from Oxfam, who develops and runs advocacy and campaigning training and learning events for organisations and networks.
