Osney Lock Hydro

As part of Low Carbon Oxford Week 2015 we are leading a walk to see the Osney Lock Hydro which is now in operation, generating clean, green electricity by means of an Archimedes Screw.   You will learn facts and figures about the hydro project and hear how a group of local residents overcame many difficulties to build the first community-owned hydro scheme on the Thames.

Hogacre Common Eco Park

The walk continues to Hogacre to explore community apple orchards, bee hives, and a small wind turbine and hear about current and future plans for the Park.  Low Carbon West Oxford and Low Carbon South Oxford work in partnership with Hogacre to develop projects on this 14 acre site, located less than a mile from the city centre.
